Evergreen Valley: The Parkour Game & Prop Sumo + 2 More - Steam Deck Tested | Apr 14
Kia ora Everyone!
What a weekend! The whole North Island was in the crosshairs of a cyclone, with states of emergency declared up and down the coast. Luckily it shifted east as it got closer, so the impact wasn’t as bad as predicted - though there’s still a massive clean-up happening where flooding and winds hit hardest.
We prepped the boat to ride it out: tied everything down, took our solar panels off, and stopped up any potential leaks. Then we waited. Thankfully it passed us by without much disturbance - a bit of rain and a short burst of high winds, but our boat and the island we’re moored at came through pretty unscathed.
Had to conserve power with the solar panels down, which is why this one’s a bit late. Did manage to test the giveaways from the weekend though!

Epic Games Giveaway
This week featuring Prop Sumo.
If you like Fall Guys, Faaast Penguin or Stumble Upon Rumble - this party fighting game pits ordinary props against each other in chaotic online battles. I got my butt kicked and may need a few more rounds of the tutorial before I'm ready to face others again!

This week featuring A Rat’s Quest: The Way Back Home - Season 1, King of Retail.
This one reminded me of The Spirit & the Mouse - beautiful artwork and it's kinda cute playing as a mouse, gives you a different perspective on things. You may need to tone down the graphics for cutscenes as they can get a bit laggy. Definitely one for the backlog - I'll get to it someday!

A retail sim where you can sell whatever you want and try out some wild business ideas. I didn't get far into this one - I'd rather leave my retail experience in the past as part of my uni days working part-time!

This week featuring Evergreen Valley: The Parkour Game.
This one gave me Getting Over It vibes - I couldn't get past the first 4 obstacles! Controls take a bit of getting used to, and one fall sends you back to the start. I'll give it another nudge, but fair warning: this one could get frustrating.

Next up on the free games front, Epic’s got The Stone of Madness coming this week.
Amazon Prime Gaming has a couple worth grabbing too: a GOG code for Snake Core and an Epic code for Monster Harvest. We’ll get these tested once they’re live.
